SPECIAL LOVE

You
are the special love of my life
Even though you will never be my wife.
You reside inside the depths of my brain
And calling your memory up causes me pain.
The
memories of what we had and gave up makes me sad
We never took the chance we thought would be so bad.
Years that separates us in this day and age
All seem to pass with each turning page.
Your
touch, your smile and your manner so beguile
Makes me think of you as a temptress wild.
Thoughts of you in your petit profile
Make me try and understand the inviting smile.
The
games we both loved to play
Seemed to get better with each passing day.
Exploring all of the feeling of pleasures delight
Became infinitely better with each passing night.
We
say to each other “ I must give you up forever”
But in our hearts we know this is a pointless endeavor.
"Did we make a mistake", because every day we think
and feel
Maybe, just maybe, we could make the fantasy real.
Imagination
keeps this memory so alive
Somehow we wish it could survive.
But to make this glorious fantasy real
Would cause wounds that would never heal.
