Reluctant Rebel, the Secret Diary of Robert Patrick edited by F. Jay Taylor Robert Patrick served in the 4th Louisiana Infantry. The book was originally written in shorthand and then transcribed after the war. It is an eloquent work describing what Patrick saw throughout the entire war. There are many descriptions of Port Hudson, Vicksburg and the terrible Atlanta campaign along with what Patrick witnessed, both humerous and horrifying. Excellent reading!
