Holiday greetings
Hello all you listers, I send out a greeting
To all of you here on our Internet meeting
Merry Christmas to all those whose halls are bedecked
Happy Winterfest to those who're politically correct.
Thank you to those who race, show and course
For making the List such an information source
From the perils of coursing continuous loop
To how to stop whippets from eating their poop.
We had sickle hocks defined, and how to make coats
And stories of whippets mistaken for goats
For all of us listers, such knowledge is riches
Whether fencing your yard or spaying your bitches
Buying chew toys or properly gaiting
The fun of it all is the worldwide debating.
Joy to all canines, who think Christmas is nifty,
With turkey and stuffing and their own special gifty.
My whippet told Santa she's been a good girl,
(she wants tree-climbing spikes - to surprise that ol' squirrel!)
Best wishes to whippets for the new year ahead
A whole year of snuggling and hogging the bed
There'll be fences to jump and new holes to be dug
(And we won't even mention what they'll do on the rug).
There'll be bunnies to chase and ribbons to win
And a whole year's worth of nice mud to track in
Wagging rat-tails and big sloppy kisses
And for some lucky ones, the pursuit of BIS's.
So hope the new year brings you laughter and joy
And to all your whippets, a treat and a toy
One final wish, to end this off right,
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
