Featured Game #10:
Analytic Feast
This is a game I've been wanting to annotate for awhile now. I kept putting it off, though, because, Gawd, it's a monster. All four players get their licks in this game. Even after the situation clarifies to where it is evident that JKiller and Anky are the ones with the attack, the game doesn't get any easier -- subtle changes like sitting for a few seconds to see if a mating piece arrives are enough to shift the initiative.
Some of my notes for this game get pretty long and hairy, and I realize that won't be to everyone's taste. Pragmatic buggers will argue it doesn't matter how a difficult position should resolve with correct play, since in the real world one of the players will inevitably screw something up. Well, I won't dispute that, but sometimes I like to find the truth about a position by trying to figure out optimum play, as best as my feeble mind will allow. That's the most attractive feature of this month's game, I think -- it is loaded with interesting positions that can be dissected in search of a new nugget of bughouse knowledge (and, don't worry, despite all the annotations in the downloadable file, I feel there's still a lot I haven't covered).
So, for all you buggers who enjoy analyzing bughouse positions,
here's a game you will love, chock full of complex
situations to study and ponder.
