Featured Game #13:

"The Good Player Is Always Lucky"

For lucky #13 in this series, let's take a look at a game where it probably seems like luck was the difference. Fermy and Vaboris lose this one, but not before they (a) miss one mate, (b) miss out on a second chance for mate because they are down :01 on the clock, and (c) miss a third chance at the end of the game when quick play could have still won it. Yep, that's bad luck no doubt, but let's give the winners due credit -- they played just fast enough, found critical moves instantly when they had to, and put just enough pressure on their opponents to win the game. A lesser team never could have pulled it out. In other words, sometimes luck takes skill.

As Capablanca said once (Capablanca was a famous bughouse player, I think, or some other bughouse-like game): "The good player is always lucky". Here's the game
