MCCARLEY

Thornton McCarley, b. before 1830 in Spartenburg, SC is the earliest of my ancestors previous known. He married Mary McAbee and their son John Calvin McCarley settled in Attala County, Mississippi.

I have recently purchased a copy of the book "The McCarley Memories" by Jane McAfee, published in 1980. This book includes many descendants of David McCarley, the son of Moses McCarley, born about 1708. This book includes my ancestor, Thornton.

Susan Evans has two Texas McCarley lines. One traces back to a Walter McCarley and another traces back to a Thomas McCarley.
Barbara McCarley has yet another Texas McCarley line.

Another line is traced back to John McCarley, b. 1754, who died in Gallia Co., Ohio.

MOSES MCCARLEY

Moses McCarley was born about 1708 and landed at New Castle, Delaware in 1729 from Northern Ireland. He married a women named Ruthe and ended up in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

John Calvin died in 1889 leaving his wife, Mary Frances, to raise their only daughter, Dora, as well as her daughter from a previous marriage, Myrtle Teague, and his sons from a previous marriage, Moses Fleming and John Allen.
