TMG WITNESS TO NOTEA utility program for TMG, The Master Genealogist ® from Wholly Genes Software. This utility converts TMG witness data to TMG note tags. After conversion then
TMG can print those tags to a GEDCOM file.
This program was not written by Wholly Genes, Inc., the authors and publishers
of TMG. The author of this program is not affiliated with Wholly Genes in any
way.
Wholly Genes publishes the TMG database format on their web site, and this

Thanks also to John Cardinal whose own fabulous TMG Utilities TMG Companion Programs inspired me to create WIT2NOTE.
This program has been tested on Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and
Windows XP with TMG for Windows Version 4.0d only. It has been designed to work
with TMG for Windows versions 4.0a, 4.0c, and 4.0d under all versions of the
Windows operating system.
This utility identifies all Tags with Witnesses. The data in those tags is
then converted to Narrative Sentences using TMG's sentence rules. Then new
tags are created for each Witness and Principal associated with the previous
tags.
A new tag then would contain five elements:
1: Date (same as previous tag)
2. Location (same as previous tag)
3. One Principal (either a witness or a principal from the previous tag)
4. Memo ( narrative sentences created using TMG sentence rules
from the previous tag)
5. Sources (same as the previous tag)
By using the sentence rules from TMG as interpreted by this utility to create
the narrative sentences the risk
to data integrity should be low.
TMG then would be used to create the GEDCOM file using the new and old tags as
usual.
The following is an example of what this program can do. 1, 2, 3
are for comparison to 4, which contains the converted witness data. 5 and 6
