Are You Ready for a Faith Tune Up? ----- Hebrews 11:6

Tune up – “to adjust something to bring it into proper working condition”

From time to time, we need a “tune up” to our faith. We need a tune up after the bumps of life throw our faith out of adjustment.

1) Faith always sees the Answer (Hebrews 11:1-2)

It doesn’t look at the circumstances or the problems

Proverbs 4:20-22

We should train ourselves to see solutions, not life’s troubles

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2) Faith believes with the Heart (Hebrews 11:7)

Not with our mind, our emotions or reason

In Romans 10:9, we are told to “believe with our heart”

Faith is not logical thinking, it is trusting what God has said is true without reservations.

3) Faith makes a Right profession (or Confession) (Hebrews 4:14)

Speak what God has declared in His word, not what circumstances dictate

Hebrews 4:14 (KJV)

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.”

2 Kings 4:8-37

Notice vs. 25-26. Her son was dead, and when asked how he was doing, she declared “it will be well”. She knew her son was promised by God and God would work it out.

Proverbs 18:21 (The Message)

“Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit--you choose.”

We say we can’t do it ------ God said “we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength”

We say we will never get well ------- God said “by HIS stripes we are healed”

We say we are poor -------- God said “my God SHALL supply all of your needs”

Let us learn to speak the language of faith. Faith sees the answer, faith claims the promises of God, and faith does not accept defeat.

4) Faith Acts on what the Word says (Hebrews 11:11-19, 24-27)

We act on what is in agreement with our confession

Noah acted on the Word – built a boat for 120 years when there was no rain because God said to

Abraham acted on the Word – Left his country not knowing where he was going

He was totally willing to sacrifice his son because the God told him to.

If God said it, we can act on it. We must act on faith with surety.

Matthew 21:21-22 (The Message)

But Jesus was matter-of-fact: "Yes--and if you embrace this kingdom life and don't doubt God, you'll not only do minor feats like I did to the fig tree, but also triumph over huge obstacles. This mountain, for instance, you'll tell, 'Go jump in the lake,' and it will jump. Absolutely everything, ranging from small to large, as you make it a part of your believing prayer, gets included as you lay hold of God."
