When your Christian Walk Becomes
Stale
Stale: Not fresh,
impaired in vigor or effectiveness
Signs of stale Christianity:
- Lack of desire to assemble or participate together in
worship.
- Lack of desire to pray passionately. Prayer becomes a
ritual.
- Lack of desire to read the Bible.
- Lack of the faith that expects answers.
- Lack of a desire to share with others.
- A lowering of our previously held morals and values.
Dangers of stale Christianity:
- Isolation from the Body of Believers makes one vulnerable
to temptation and sin.
- Lack of meaningful prayer leads to poor choices and not
being led by the Spirit.
- Lack of Bible reading leads to error and false religions.
- Lack of faith negates expecting answers and miracles --
God ceases to be real and meaningful.
- Not sharing leads to blocked blessings and Spirit led
encounters.
How to overcome stale Christianity:
- Do not give up meeting together with believers whether
two or two thousand. ( Heb.10:25)
- Encourage one another with positive exhortations
(Heb.10:24).
- Realize God hears our prayers even in our weakest times.
(1 Cor. 12:7-10 / 13:4) (1 Kings 19:3-12)
- Always make decisions carefully knowing that you are not
totally in tune with the Holy Spirit at these times.
- Offer a sacrifice of praise when you feel weak. (Isaiah
61:3 / Heb. 13:15)
- Strive to remove the focus off of you and get involved
with helping others.
- Realize that Christianity isn't entertainment, it is a
lifestyle. A sporting event may be boring to watch, but
to the athletes involved, winning or losing is all that
matters. (1 Cor. 9:24-27)
