JIMMY HOWELL MOODY
Jimmy Howell Moody, 68, of Warm Springs, died March 28 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services were held March 30 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Cary Hicks officiating, assisted by Rev. C.R. Hicks. Burial followed at Meriwether Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Brandon Armijo, Steven Dean, Casey Pettis, Randy Moody, Raymond Elliott, Johnny Rowell, Sam Rowell, and Jason Pettis. Honorary pallbearers were Cortlyn Rosser, Jason Rowell, Seth Hepworth and Austin Rowe.
Mr. Moody was born December 3, 1933 in Meriwether County, a son of the late Clark and Mary Lula Lee Moody. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Sara E. Dotson Moody of Warm Springs; four daughters, Judy Rowe of Shiloh, Cathy Birmingham, Karen Risher and Mary Ann Stewart, all of Columbus; one stepson, Sarn Rowell of Warm Springs; one stepdaughter, Barbara Moore, also of Warm Springs; two sisters, Shirley Elliott and Judy Ann Massey, both of Manchester; five brothers, Douglas Moody, Alvin Moody, David Moody and Rodger Moody, all of Manchester, and Tommy Moody of Warm Springs; eight grandchildren; and 21 step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dorothea "Dot" K. Ellison, 89, of Manchester, died December 28 at her residence. Graveside services were conducted March 31 at Manchester City Cemetery with Rev. Cullen Clements officiating.
Mrs. Ellison was born December 6, 1912, daughter of the late Sylvester Alfred Keefer and the late Clara Sherrett Keefer. She was a retired secretary at the Brace Shop at Georgia Warm Springs Foundation, and was a member of Manchester First Baptist Church and attended Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Bishop "Bip" Lee Ellison, and daughter-in-law, Pamela "Pam" P. Ellison, both of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Adrian Rideau Keefer of Greenville; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Bishop Ellison.

Jesse Parkman "JP" Bulloch, 84, of Manchester, died March 30 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Manchester April 1 with Rev. C. R. Hicks officiating, assisted by Bruce Brown. Burial was at Meriwether Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Dean Smith, David Ward, Derrick Snelson, Stan Cartwright, Glen Waddell, and Jason Betts.
Mr. Bulloch was born August 2, 1917 in Meriwether County, son of the late Ben and Hattie Rollins Bulloch. He was a World War II Army veteran, attend Grace Baptist Church, worked for Callaway Mills for 29 years, and retired from Goody Products after nine years.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Bulloch of Manchester; one daughter, Jeanette (Lloyd) Betts of Mauk; one son, Ronnie (Deborah) Bulloch of Manchester; four grandchildren, Tracy (Jim) Edwards of Manchester, Crystal (Gary) Heath of Woodland, Jason Betts of Mauk, and Stacey Bulloch of Manchester; two great-grandchildren, Krista and Kayla Edwards, both of Manchester.

Deacon Elijah Mitchell, 51, passed away March 26. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30 at Flint River Baptist Church in Woodland at 3:00 p.m.
Deacon Mitchell was born October 21, 1950, son of Dea. Louis Mitchell and the late Sis. Annie Maude Mitchell. He joined Flint River Baptist Church at an early age when he served on the Board of Deacons. He was also a member of Paschal Masonic Lodge #303, serving as secretary and served on the New Hope Usher Board Association. He retired from Georgia Pacific with 26 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Mrs. Linda Mitchell; two sons, Demarco (Mari) Mitchell of Atlanta and Montavious Mitchell of Woodland; four brothers, Sammy (Arlean), George (Mattie Louise), Curtis (Linda Faye) of Atlanta, and Arthur (Louise) of Talbotton; five sisters, Emily (Eddie) Birts of Greenville, Corene Mitchell and Veronica (Emanuel) White of Woodland, Janice (Reginald) Baldwin of Stone Mountain, and Dina (John) Jones of Atlanta; two aunts, Emily Bedell and Betty Hobbs, both of Thomaston; two uncles, Frank Bedell of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and Rudolph Leonard of Manchester; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Lucy Couch of Talbotton; one grandson, Isaiah Mitchell of Atlanta; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.

Mrs. Willie J. Leonard, 85, passed away March 25, at the Medical Center in Columbus.
Mrs. Leonard was born August 28, 1916, daughter of the late Willie Lee and Ella Prather. She was the oldest of ten children. She confessed hope in Christ and joined the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include five children: Willie Hugh Prather, Calvin, Donald and Ronald Leonard and Deborah (Clement) Smith; two stepdaughters, Diana (Ronnie) Sherwood of Atlanta, and Dianna (Charles) Conners of South Bend, Virginia; four grandchildren, Anthony (Wanda), Kesha, Katiba, Donavis; seven great grandchildren, Lakeves, Kadaish, Anthony Jr., Andrew, Tierra, JaKeidra, Tyrese; three sisters, Zula (Wisdom) Brown, Doris Copeland, both of Manchester and Martha (Jimmy) Bryant of Pittsfield, New Hampshire; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Leonard and her oldest daughter, Elizabeth Trice.

Mr. Stevenson was born May 27, 1912 in Manchester, son of the late Mank and Exie Lee Stevenson. He joined the New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until his health failed. He retired from Deering Milliken after 33 years of service.
Survivors include one daughter, Minister Mary Flemings; five sons, Jessie (Bessie) of Atlanta, Willie Ralph (Eva) of Woodbury, Jimmy Lee, Bobby (Michelle), and Byrom (Angela), all of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leala Nell Hardnett Stevenson, two children, and two sisters, Emma Lee Reeves and Exie Mae King, both of Manchester.

Mrs. Augusta Jones Todd, 86, of Abbeville, Alabama, died April 1 at her home after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 5 in the St. Paul Churchyard in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mrs. Todd was born in St. Louis but was reared in St. Clair, Missouri, the daughter of the late Anthony Bert Jones and Margaret Jane Harms Jones. She lived most of her life in St. Louis where she and her late husband, Gifford Ernest Todd, owned and operated Todds Grocery Store for many years. Mrs. Todd also lived in Manchester for several years before moving to Lake Eufaula in Henry County, Alabama in 1998. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her daughter, Naomi Todd Maloney and her husband, Harold Maloney of Abbeville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Michael and Keith Maloney, Cathy Woolsey and Karen Reed; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ruth Butler of St. Clair, Missouri, Berdetta Enloe of Clayton, Missouri, Margaret Krater of Union, Missouri, and Dorothy Wieda of St. Peters, Missouri; two brothers, Anthony Jones of St. Clair, Missour and George Jones of Union, Missouri.

Mrs. Boucha was born October 13, 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of the late Katherine Hughes Fowler and the late George Washington Fowler. She was a retired nursing aid, a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Hamilton, and was the widow of Earl Edward Boucha.
Survivors include a daughter, Terry Gainey of Shiloh; six grandchildren; several great-and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jean Nolder and two brothers.

Mrs. Frost was born May 29, 1937 in Talbot County, daughter of the late Joseph Franklin Bullock and Bessie Ward Bullock. She was a homemaker and had worked the lunch counter at Chandler Drug Store in Columbus. She was a member of the Woodland Church of God and was married to Roy J. Frost, who passed away the day after her death.
Survivors include her mother, Bessie Ward Bullock of Box Springs; two sisters, Eva Miller of Buena Vista and Karen Goodin of Americus; one brother, Ray Bullock of Box Springs.

Mr. Frost was born July 2, 1932 in Galax, Virginia. He was a retired driver for Wells Steel Company in Waverly Hall, was a US Army veteran in the Korean Conflict with the 82 Airborne Paratroopers and was a member of the Woodland Church of God. He was preceded in death by his loving wife by one, Betty J. Frost and was survived by loving family and friends.

Mr. Marshall was born October 30, 1907 in Harris County, the son of the late James F. and Bonnie Mae Stanford Marshall. He was a retired depot agent with the railroad for 42 years and a dedicated member of the Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include several cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Marshall and Sara Marshall.
Donations in memory of Mr. Marshall may be made to the Matthews Chapel UMC Cemetery Fund.

Mr. Hartley was born November 18, 1940 in Fernandina Beach, Florida, son of the late Joanne and William E. Hartley, Jr. He was a printing equipment salesman and a veteran of the National Guard. Mr. Hartley had lived in Pine Mountain for the past twelve years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pine Mountain.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Mullins Hartley of Pine Mountain; three sons, William E. Hartley, IV of Macon, David Eric Hartley of Charleston, South Carolina, and James Zachry Hartley of Pine Mountain; two brothers, G. Michael Hartley of Atlanta and S. Bradford Harley of Villa Rica.

Mr. McCarty was born November 26, 1932 in Winterville, a son of the late Opal Kilby McCarty and the late Guy Stephens McCarty. He was a retired conductor for CSX Railroad after 36 years, was a Korean War Army veteran, member of Stephens Masonic Lodge #586, Manchester, a Shriner, member of the VFW and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, James Stephen McCarty of Cartersville; one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce Ann and Jerry Davis of Griffin.

Mr. Blackwell was born April 19, 1919 in Manchester, son of the late Lavon and Bonnie Mae Terry Blackwell. He was a retired heavy equipment operator in the grading industry, was a World War II Army veteran, who served at the Battle of the Bulge and was a Bronze Star recipient. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Pine Mountain.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Blackwell of Valrico, Florida, and Terry Thomas Blackwell of LaGrange; two brothers, Joe Chapman of Warm Springs and Jerry Chapman of Shiloh; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Blackwell.

Mrs. Coyer was born December 10, 1931 in Jones County, a daughter of the late Johnny Castile and the late Cloie Pinyan Castile. She was a homemaker and was a member of Grapevine Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Pauline Gore of Tallapoosa, Rubin Duvall of Madisonville, Kentucky, Judy Coyer of Carrolton, and Debra Matthews of Paducah, Kentucky; one son, Jimmy Coyer of Madisonville; two sisters, Thelma Cromer of Woodland and Peggy Williams of Manchester; two brothers, Billy Castile of Warm Springs, and Harold Dean Castile of Middleburg, Florida; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, from the North Jacksonville Chapel of Peeples Family Funeral Homes, in Jacksonville, Florida with Rev. Bill Wing, pastor of Dunns Creek Baptist Church in Satsuma, Florida officiating. Burial will follow at Conner-Green Cemetery in Nassau County, Florida.
Mr. Tart was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and had lived in Satsuma, Florida since 1953 before moving to Manchester in September 2000. He retired in 1987 from National Container Co. and was a veteran of the US Navy, World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hilda Tartt, with whom he would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 17; three children, Donald (Susan) Tartt, Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida, Anita Bounds of Manchester and Zinda (Michael) Smith, also of Jacksonville; four brothers, Roy Tartt, Danny Tartt, Charles Tartt, and Wesley Tartt; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Prickett was born February 11, 1911 in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Julius McRae and the late Ada Moreland McRae. She was a homemaker and member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Frank McRae of Woodbury; two special nieces, Charlene Walton and Betty Moreland, both of Woodbury; a special nephew, Charles Hatchett, also of Woodbury; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lawson Pritchett.

Mrs. McGouirk was born August 21, 1920 in Meriwether County. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was an excellent cook and gardener.
Survivors include her daughter Suzanne M. Lowe and her husband, John T. Lowe, granddaughter Sherri Wood and grandson John T. Lowe, Jr., all of Austin; granddaughter Susan Lowe of Louisville, Kentucky and great grandchildren Kylie and Ian Wood of Austin. She is also survived by her sisters, Mrs. Johnny Childree of Woodbury, Mrs. Mavis Sheets of Richland, Mrs. John Adcock of Woodbury, Mrs. Paul Cook of West Point, and Mrs. Martin Boggs of Manchester; brothers, Alvin Bishop of Thomaston, Arthur Bishop and Pete Bishop, both of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. John Aldridge of Monroe.

Richard Miller Alsobrook, 88, of Woodland, died April 13 at Doctors Hospital in Columbus. Funeral services were held April 16 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Manchester with Dr. Aubrey A. Alsobrook (his brother) officiating, assisted by Rev. William E. McTier. Burial followed at Woodland Cemetery with Edward Buchanan, Dr. Hugh V. Hendricks, Richard Skates, Charles Garrett, Gene Huddleston, and Fred Griffin serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Alsobrook was born November 13, 1913 in Talbot County, son of the late Claudia Miller Alsobrook and the late Robert Alsobrook. He was a retired cattleman and peach farmer and was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.
Survivors include one brother, Dr. Aubrey Alsobrook of Americus; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ophelia Flemming Alsobrook.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Alsobrook may be made to the American Heart Association or the Woodland Cemetery Fund.

Mrs. Laura Christine Adams, 88, of Woodland, died April 14 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Smith-Steele- Meadows Funeral Home, Manchester, with the Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Edward Buchanan, Rickey Huddleston, Jason Huddleston, Ronnie Hendricks, David Neyhart, and Brooks McDaniel.
Mrs. Adams was born January 2, 1914 in Fayette County, a daughter of the late Stephen and Florence Brown Pope. She was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church, Peachtree City, and had worked for Woodland Furniture Company.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Herbert F. Adams, Jr., and Arnestteen Adams of Manchester; two daughters, Shirley Rieger of Manchester and Jeanette Hendricks of Woodland; a daughter-in-law, Marian Adams of Tucker; a sister-in-law, Inez Huddleston of Woodland; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert F. Adams, Sr., and a son, Forrest L. Adams.

Ronald F. Phillips, a longtime resident of Meriwether County, passed away April 3 at the age of 60, due to a long illness, in a Fort Worth, Texas hospital.
Services were held in Lynn Haven, Florida April 9.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lois Phillips.
