Mrs. Imogene Norris Evans, 80, of Greenville, died December 24, at West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, Ga. Memorial Services were held December 26 at Greenville United Methodist Church according to Cox Funeral Home, Manchester.
Mrs. Evans was born January 21, 1922 in Meriwether County, Ga., the daughter of Howard and Mackie Sartain Norris. She was the retired office manager with the Georgia Department of Revenue and was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Past Grand Representative of Oregon in Georgia; Past Matron, Stephens Chapter #399, Manchester; Past Matron, Miriam Chapter #32, LaGrange; and Past Grand Chapter Heart of Gold Session Appointee.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Emily Head of Greenville, Ga.; two nieces, Theresa Norris of Greenville, Ga. and Lura Jane Teal of Seale, Ala.; two nephews, Billy Norris of Greenville, Ga. and Larry Norris of Tyrone, Ga.; several great-nieces, great-great nieces, and one great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Evans, and a sister, Lura Snyder.

Rubin Joe Bridges

Rubin Joe Bridges, 94, of Woodbury, died December 22 at Upson Regional Medical Center, Thomaston, Ga. Funeral services were held December 24 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bethesda United Methodist Church, Manchester.
Mr. Bridges was born October 13, 1908 in Meriwether County, Ga., the son of the late Joseph and Ida Bridges. He was retired from Martha Mills in Thomaston as a loom fixer and instructor. He attended Georgia Tech and had designed cloth. He was the last survivor of the band that was playing when President Roosevelt died in Warm Springs and was Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Bishop Bridges of Woodbury, Ga.; a daughter, Deborah Bullock of Manchester, Ga.; one son, Ted Bridges of Woodbury, Ga.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ollene Cook and by a grandson, Brandon Bridges.\

David Franklyn Ozzie Osborne, Sr., 53, of Manchester, died January 4 in Woodland, Ga. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 8 at Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, Manchester with Dr. Robert Patterson officiating. Burial followed at Meriwether Memory Gardens.
Mr. Osborne was born November 7, 1949 in Winnebago County, IL, a son of Franklyn Osborne, and Edith Buck Osborne. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and was a musician. He was a member of Warm Springs First Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was the founder of the Viet-Now Group.
Survivors include his mother, Edith Osborne of Rockford, IL; his wife, Barbara Wadkins Osborne of Manchester, Ga.; three sons, Seth Osborne of Manchester, Ga., Nathan Osborne of Clearwater, Fla. and David Osborne of Rockford, IL; two stepsons, Robert Graff of Birmingham, Ala. and James Graff of Rockford, IL; a stepdaughter, Deborah Linglebach; one brother, Richard Osborne, both of Rockford, IL; two sisters, Betty Swenson of Rockford, IL and Sue Parker of Salmon, ID; nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Frances Buffington Harrison, 87, of Manchester, died December 17 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital, Warm Springs, Ga. Funeral services were held December 20 at Manchester First Baptist Church with Reverend Craig Williamson officiating. Private burial followed at Meriwether Memory Gardens with Mercer Buffington, Jr., Mel Buffington, Ben Buffington, Harry Stockdale, John Blair, Jr., Ricky Moon, Russ Moon, and Jesse Hart serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. H. Calving Jackson, Glenn Wallace, Jimmy Lanier, Jack Smith, Joel Shelton, Bonnie Sherrer, Skip Woodall, and Russell Allen.
Mrs. Harrison was born October 23, 1915 in Pike County, Ga., a daughter of the late Jesse Mercer Buffington and the late Lucy Holifield Buffington. She had worked in the Callaway Mills and B&H Cleaners in Manchester, and retired from International Playtex as a quality control inspector. She was a charter member of Manchester First Baptist Church where she was very faithful in attendance.
Survivors include her sister, Irma Buffington Howard; sister-in-law, Jean Buffington, both of Woodland, Ga.; three nieces, Susan Howard Pierce of Newnan, Ga., Mary Ann Moon of Huntsville, Ala., and Ruth Blair Hart of Hamilton, Ga.; three nephews, Harry Stockdale of Conyers, Ga., John Blair, Jr. of Maryville, TN, and Mercer Buffington, Jr., of Woodland, Ga.; several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Harrison, a brother, Mercer Buffington, Sr., and two sisters, Montine Stockdale Hulsey and Sara Blair.

Mr. Summerford was born September 23, 1933 in Sumner, Worth County, Ga., a son of the late Julian Summerford and the late Mary Dupree Summerford. He was a retired plumber and pipe fitter and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Hellen H. Summerford of Greenville, Ga.; two sons, Billy G. Summerford, Jr., of Albany, Ga. and Timothy W. Hodges of Bowie, TX; a daughter, Bonnie W. Winfrey of LaGrange, Ga.; three sisters, Ernestine Hayes of Albany, Ga., Winifred Harvey of Old Town, Fla., and Wynell Carter of Albany, Ga.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Reaves was born August 13, 1929 in Forsyth County, Ga., a daughter of the late William Castleberry and Mammie Bennett Castleberry. She was a homemaker and was a member of Cove Baptist Church.

Ira B. Robinson, Sr., 75, of Manchester, died December 23 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, Ga. Burial followed at Meriwether Memory Gardens.
Mr. Robinson was born November 3, 1927 in Ty Ty, Ga., a son of the late Thomas Alvin Robinson and the late Linnie Ward Robinson. He was a maintenance technician for J.C. Penney Co., and was a U.S. Army/Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a Missionary Baptist and had served as pastor of several Missionary Baptist Churches.
Survivors include his wife, Eilene Bedford Robinson of Manchester, Ga.; three sons, Ronnie Robinson of Hogansville, Ga., Donnie Robinson of Thomaston, Ga., and Ira B. Robinson of Ellaville, Ga.; a sister, Mildred Ousley of Manchester, Ga.; a half-brother, William Douglas Brown of Marietta, Ga.; two half-sisters, Elizabeth Brown of Manchester, Ga. and Betty Cupp of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Burial followed at Meriwether Memory Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: Raymond Bulloch, Waymond Bulloch, Billy Davis, Keith Yeager, Lynwood Moore, and Clay Collier.
Mrs. Yeager was born April 14, 1913 in Harris County, Ga., a daughter of the late Albert Grant and the late Carrie Bass Grant. She was a seamstress and was a member of Manchester First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Joe Collier of Albany, Ga.; three grandchildren, Kim and Bobby Park of Charlotte, NC, Charlotte and Lynwood Moore of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joe Clayton and Jennifer Collier of Albany, Ga.; a great-granddaughter, Kelly Hutchins; a great-grandson, Tommy Lynwood Moore, III. William Christopher Portwood, 81 , of Woodbury, died December 27 at The Medical Center, Columbus, Ga. Funeral services were held December 30 in Michigan with burial at Oak View Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Mr. Portwood was born December 10, 1921 in Carrollton, Ga., a son of Louis Frank Portwood, Sr., and Mary Louis McCrae Portwood. He retired in 1981 after 30 years of services as ladle-man in the steel mills in Warren, Michigan. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Manchester and was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Weldon Portwood.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Portwood of Indian River, MI; six daughters, Mary Patricia Nilsson of Davisburg, MI, Linda Mae Niemi of Taylor, MI, Brenda Louis Davidge of Chesterfield, MI, Carol June Christensen of Woodbury, Ga., Norma Willeen Portwood-Stacer of Lavonia, MI, and Sandra Lee Portwood of Chesterfield, MI; a son, Vincent W. Miss Allen was born February 12, 1919 in Talbot County, Ga., a daughter of Hamilton Bryant Allen and Annie Thomas Kellum Allen. She was retired as an office manager for GTE Telephone Company and was a member of Manchester First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Nina Belle Wheless of Thomaston, Ga. and Vera Frances Wise of Commerce, Ga.; three brothers, Russell Allen and Elmer Kellum Allen, both of Manchester, Ga., and Robert Allen of Midland, Ga.

Lee Earnest (Buddy) Campbell, 85, passed away December 27 at Oak View Nursing Home. Funeral services were held December 31 at Leverette Hill Baptist Church in Warm Springs, Ga. with Pastor Tracy Neal officiating.
Mr. Campbell was born December 20, 1917 in Meriwether County, Ga., son of the late Tom and Johnnie Rose Campbell. He moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1952 where he was employed at CECO Steel Company until retirement, 40 years later. Mr. Campbell and his family moved back to Warm Springs in 1976 where he was a faithful worker and good friend until his health failed. He pledged his life to Christ at an early age at the Leverette Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lillie Campbell; one daughter, Lucy Render; one son, Tommy Campbell; one sister, Bessie Branch; one sister-in-law, Rosa Vaughan of Detroit, MI; one brother-in-law, John Marshall, also of Detroit, MI; 13 grandchildren, Charles (Georgia) Neal, Lila (Azell) Favors, Librity (Linda) Neal, Jeannette (Earl) Hinton, Wayne Render, Benton (Debra) Render, Randy (Mary) Render, Darrel (Jolene) Render, Monica and Renarda Marshall; 23 great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Eunice Febry and Emanuel (Greta) Marshall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Dukes was born January 29, 1924 in Meriwether County, Ga., daughter of the late Theron Arten Waddell and the late Mattie Owens Waddell. She worked in the textile industry for years and retired from Goody Products (molding department). Mrs. Dukes was a member of Harmony Church of the Nazarene where she was a Sunday School teacher for 45 years.
Survivors include her husband, Brady Oswald Dukes; sons, Mark Dukes and David Dukes; sisters, Birdie Bairentine, Martha Dukes and Barbara Bass; one brother, James (Bill) Waddell, all of Woodbury, Ga.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Theron Wayne Dukes and Brady O. Dukes, Jr.

Born in Johnson County, Ga., Mrs. Wiley was the daughter of the late Mose and Mable Miller Sheppard.

Born in Woodland, Ga., Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of John and Alberta Mae Matthews Woodall. She graduated from the public school system in Woodland and from Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga., where she majored in music and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Mu Phi Epsilon honorary music society.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Wilson Dempsey of Alexandria, VA; one brother, John Woodall of Woodland, Ga.; two grandchildren, Joanna Woodall Dempsey and Robert Wilson Dempsey; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Rollins was born October 22, 1913 in Meriwether County, Ga., the son of E.W. and Mary Rollins. He retired as a salesman for Rhodes Furniture, Inc., Manchester. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was a lifetime deacon and former chairman, also former Sunday School director. He worked after his retirement as a helping hand volunteer with Georgia Power Company, and was a member of the Manchester Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Lanier Rollins, a daughter, Sandra Vickers; sister, Sue Barnes, and brother, Grady Rollins.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Pinson Garrett of Manchester, Ga.; three sisters, Audrey Willingham of Manchester, Ga., Nell McCall of Shiloh, Ga. and Rachael Brown of Thomaston, Ga.; one brother, Jack Rollins of Manchester, Ga.; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Chunn was born May 16, 1936 in Meriwether County, Ga., the son of William L. and Mary Emma Chunn. He was a retired driver for the CSX Railroad Transport Service and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Chunn of Manchester, Ga.; one daughter, Jacklyn Chunn of Culloden, Ga.; three sons, Robert L. Mrs. Harper was born September 17, 1939 in Talbot County, Ga., daughter of the late Adrian and Leila Foster Braddy. She had worked at Goody Products in the Receiving Department and was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Bennie Elliott of West Point, Ga., Valinda and Ricky Looney of LaGrange, Ga. and Kimberly and Scott Rowe of Shiloh, Ga.; three brothers, Raymond Braddy, Edwin Braddy and Donald Braddy, all of Manchester, Ga.; 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Haywood was born March 7, 1932 in Meriwether County, Ga., a daughter of William Andrew Funderburk and Opal Viola McRae Funderburk. She had worked most of her life for West Point Pepperell in Columbus, and later retired from H. Goodman and Sons in Manchester, Ga. She was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church in Warm Springs, Ga.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Vinita (Earl) Pressley of Manchester, Ga., Yolanda Arvella Anderson of Auburn, Ala. and Lavada Faydale (Ronnie) Smith of LaGrange, Ga.; a son, Roy Randall (Cindy) of LaGrange, Ga.; a sister, Gladys Mills of Manchester; seven grandchildren, John Funderburk, Jr., Angela Thompson, Brandy Cortes, Ashley Smith, Randall Anderson, Kimberly Anderson, Earl Pressley, Jr., and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Roy R. Anderson and Jack Thomas Haywood; three sisters, Rosa Lee Smith, Sara Herring and Barbara Anderson; two brothers, A.J. Funderburk, William Andrew Funderburk; and a grandson, William Joseph Joey Whatley.

Ethan Trace Worsley, infant son of Heath and Jennifer ONeal Worsley, died Thursday, January 16, at The Medical Center, Columbus, Ga. Graveside services were held Saturday, January 18, at Meriwether Memory Gardens, with Reverend Kyle Woodfin officiating.
Survivors, other than his parents, include a brother, Daniel Worsley; maternal grandparents, Mark & Brenda ONeal; paternal grandparents, Don & Teresa Worsley; maternal great-grandmother, Willene Fowler; paternal great-grandparents, Ray and Judy Watford, all of Manchester, Ga. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Donald Fowler.

Mr. Edgar Thomas Perdue, 75, of Warm Springs, Ga., died January 13, at his residence. Funeral services were held January 16 at the Warm Springs First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Warm Springs City Cemetery with John Barnes, Sanford Bradshaw, Edwin Self, Harrison Smith, Steve Dorman, Andy Johnson and Randolph Jones serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Perdue was born August 17, 1927 in Warm Springs, Ga., the son of Bertha Brown Perdue and Rufus Lamar Perdue. He was a retired property control manager at the Roosevelt Warm Spring Institute for Rehabilitation, a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of Warm Springs First Baptist Church and had lived in Warm Springs all his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ellen Ray Perdue.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Perdue of Columbus, Ga.; one daughter, Pam Perdue of LaGrange, Ga.; one brother, Herbert Perdue of LaFayette, Ga.; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Katie Marie Lucas, 11, died January 25 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital, Warm Springs, Ga. Funeral services were held January 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Durand with Reverend Gene Davis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Link Mitcham, Jeff Cain, Travis Alston, Andy Beck, Billy Davis, and Jack Crowder.
Miss Lucas was born August 11, 1991 in Columbus, Ga., daughter of Barry and Susan Davis Lucas.
Survivors include her mother, Susan (George) Allen of Warm Springs, Ga.; father, Barry (Vicki) Lucas of Warm Springs, Ga.; maternal grandmother, Katherine Davis of Warm Springs, Ga.; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Vivian Lucas of Manchester, Ga.; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Sarah Mildred Callaway Phelps, 75, of Manchester, Ga., died January 25, at her residence. Graveside services were held January 28 at Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery with Reverend Cullen Clements officiating.
Mrs. Phelps was born January 31, 1927 in Upson County, Ga., a daughter of John J. Callaway and Jessie Alford Callaway. She had worked for International Playtex and was retired from Goody Products. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Manchester.

Moody Lee Lammon, 72, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Manchester, Ga., died January 22 at his home. Graveside services were held January 25 at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, according to Cox Funeral Home in Manchester.
Mr. Lammon was born October 2, 1930 in Phenix City, Ala., the son of John and Lois Lammon. He was a retired supervisor with Georgia Power having worked for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda H. Lammon of Manchester, Ga.; a daughter, Jean (Jim) Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandsons, Richard Payne, Robert Lammon and Christopher Lammon, all of Jacksonville, Fla.

Mrs. Annie Mae Rosser Talley, 93, died January 11. Funeral services were held January 16 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Luthersville with Reverend D.C. Driver officiating. Pallbearers were Randall Owens, Michael Talley, Gregory Talley, Darin Wimbus, Daron Deering and Andrew Owens.
Mrs. Talley was born May 17, 1909 in Meriwether County, Ga. to the late John Brown and Emma Rosser. She was a member of the Freedman Aid Lodge, Mothers Board, Easter Star, a Sunday School teacher, Usher Board, and Missionary Society.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Rosser Little of Manchester, Ga. and Mrs. Grace Rosser Ector of Greenville, Ga.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Jeannette Owens; six grandchildren, Leonia Black, Annette Harris, Foristene Hill, Deborah Talley, Haze Talley, and Shari Hardaway; one adopted daughter, Mrs. Emma Mae Tenney; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rosser; 25 great-grandchildren; 45 great great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Talley.
