Mrs. Ida Christine Reynolds, 71, of Woodbury, died March 5 at Molena Nursing Home in Molena. Funeral services were conducted March 8 at the Chapel of Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home in Woodbury with Reverend Jimmy Bowden officiating. Burial followed at Meriwether Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jody Stewart, Timmy Stewart, Robbin Stewart, Jerry Brown, Marvin Pough, Derrick Snelson, and Bobby Gordy.
Mrs. Reynolds was born August 27, 1929 in Pike County, daughter of the late Inus and Miriam Bridges Stribling. She was retired from Nabisco and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Hassel Reynolds of Woodbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Betty Reynolds of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Robert Stribling of Molena; one sister, Mary Jane Stewart of Woodbury; one granddaughter, Faith Reynolds; two step granddaughters, April and Brandi.

Hassell Lanoris Reynolds, 67, of Woodbury, died April 25 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Funeral services were conducted at the Chapel of Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home in Woodbury April 28 with Reverend Jimmy Bowden officiating. Burial was at Meriwether Memory Gardens with Jody Stewart, Rob Stewart, Steve Calhoun, Brett Bryant, Mike Fuson and Derrick Snelson serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Reynolds was born July 14, 1933 in Meriwether County, son of the late Junior Herman Reynolds and Ezelle Davis Reynolds. He was retired from Nabisco as a supervisor and was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Betty Reynolds of Carrollton, Texas; mother, Mrs. Ezelle Reynolds of Woodbury; one sister, Mrs. Barbara Holcomb, also of Woodbury; one brother, Carl Reynolds of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Faith Reynolds; step grandchildren, Brandi Kurian and April Martin. He was predeceased by his wife, Christine S. Reynolds.

MRS. WILLIE MAE HOLMES

Mrs. Willie Mae Terry Holmes, 77, died April 22 at Doctors Hopsital. Funeral services were held April 25 at St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Shiloh with the Reverend John C. Pollard officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Abraham Holmes, Ray Holmes, Robert McDaniel III, Clyde Holmes, Robert Holmes, and Michael McDaniel serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jule Hawkins and Robert Moore.
Mrs. Holmes was born April 28, 1923 in Talbot County to the late Reverend Dock Terry and Sister Bessie Halmer Terry. She joined Macedonia C.M.E. Church at an early age, later uniting in Christian Fellowship with St. Paul C.M.E. Church. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Usher Board, Stewardess Board, NAACP, Habitat for Humanity, and many other service boards. Mrs. Holmes served as a class leader, church treasurer, and Chairman of the Trustee Board. She was employed by the Meadows family for 33 years.
Survivors include her husband, Tommie L. Holmes; a daughter/niece, Dot Moore of Atlanta; nephew, Ronnie Boddie, also of Atlanta; one sister, Pauline (Robert) McDaniel of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Clinton (Lucille) Terry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Bessie Boddie; a brother, Joseph Terry; two nephews, Andrew Boddie and Allen Boddie.

Laurance Hammond Bowdoin, Jr., 78, of Vienna, formerly of Warm Springs, died April 23 in Vienna. Graveside services were conducted April 26 at Warm Springs Cemetery with Reverend Bruce Bunten, pastor of Manchester First United Methodist Church officiating.
Mr. Bowdoin was born Mary 5, 1922 in Griffin, son of the late Lucy Lee Burton Bowdoin and the late Laurance H. Bowdoin, Sr. He retired from Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation after 30 years of service, was a member of Manchester First United Methodist Church, was an Army veteran of World War II and was the widower of Lenora Wilson Bowen Bowdoin.
Survivors include three sons, Laurance Craig Bowdoin of Tucson, Arizona, Laurance H. Bowdoin III, of Barstow, California and Paul Carlton Bowdoin of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Virginia Horner of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; two stepdaughters, Ann Bowen Smith of Macon and Cherri Bowen Harvey of Pineview; one stepson, Robert A. Bowen, Jr. of Cordele; two grandchildren.

MRS. FANNIE GROOVER HORNE

Mrs. Fannie Groover Horne, 90, died April 29 at Camden Medical Center in St. Marys. Services were held May 1 in the Chapel of Edo Miller-Dekle-Wainwright Funeral Home with Reverend Hartford Peeples of Fernandina, Florida officiating. Interment was at the Temple Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingsland. Active pallbearers for the service were grandsons of Mrs. Horne.
Born December 13, 1910 in Tattnall County, to the late Hollie and Joseph Rhyant Groover, Mrs. Horne moved to Camden County at age of seven and was the oldest of five sibling; two brothers, Boaz Groover of Folkston, Balaam Groover of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Beulah Horne of Browntown and Betsy Thomas of St. Marys, all deceased.
She was the loving wife of 47 years to the late Harry Lee Horne who passed away January 1875. She was also the cherished mother of seven children, Nora G. Walters and husband Marcas of St. Marys, the late Harvey E. Horne and wife Essie of St. Petersburg, Florida, Joseph L. Horne and wife Wynelle of Browntown, Hazel H. Harrell and husband Lowell of Manchester, Nancy Crews of Kingsland, Lynn Horne and wife Sylvia of Browntown and the late Quinn Horne.
Mrs. Horne was blessed with 33 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Being a devoted Christian, Mrs. Horne was a full-time active member and junior Sunday School teacher at Temple Baptist Church. Upon the closing of the church, she immediately moved her membership to Ruhamah Baptist Church in Kingsland.

Mr. Dukes was born May 27, 1915 in Meriwether County, son of the late Rose Lee Brown Dukes and the late Eddie Lee Dukes. He was a retired general contractor, and member of Harmony Church of the Nazarene, Warm Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Doggett Dukes of Woodbury; two daughters, Dawn (Preston) Barentine of Manchester and Linda Crane of Woodbury; one son, Roland (Betty) Dukes of Manchester; six granddaughters, Karen (Wink) Welch of Woodbury, Tammy (Scott) Elliott of Manchester, Cindy (Gary) Hendrix, also of Manchester, Stacey (Stan) Hitchcock of Ellerslie, Renee (Blake) Adamson of Ellerslie, and Kelli (John) Oliver of Columbus; nine great grandchildren, Zachary Elliott, Lindsey Faulkner, Amiee and Ayla Welch, Carly and Colton Adamson, Dylan Wiker, Victoria Hitchcock, and Madison Oliver.

Miss Weems was born July 23, 1907 in Talbot County, daughter of the late Lizzie Mae Jones Weems and the late John Abner Weems. She was survived by no immediate family.

Minister Eddie Lewis Copeland, 47, died April 25. Funeral services were conducted May 1 at Bethany Baptist Church in Pine Mountain with Pastor Lewis Trammell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mr. Copeland was born September 25, 1953, son of Ruby Lee Copeland and the late John Lewis Copeland. He was a member of the William Grove Church of Deliverance, Pine Mountain.

Mrs. Mary Cleo Strickland, of Alvaton, died April 24 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan. Funeral services were conducted at Smith-Steele-Meadows Chapel in Woodbury April 26 with Reverend Winston Skinner officiating. Burial followed at Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery and serving as pallbearers were P. J. Calhoun, Johnny Caldwell, Fay Bassett, Harrell McFarlin, Edward Argroves, and Bobby Bishop.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Cobb County, daughter of the late Hardy and Dora Murphy Bailey. She was a homemaker and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Strickland of Alvaton; one daughter, Charlene Bloodworth of Atlanta; one son, James C. Banks of Lithia Springs; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Carl Banks.

Sidney Claud Ingram, Jr., 75, of Talbotton, died May 5 at his residence. Graveside services were conducted May 8 at Waverly Hall Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Corley officiating, assisted by Reverend Scott Brenton.
Mr. Ingram was born April 12, 1926 in Talbot County, son of the late Sidney Claude Ingram, Sr., and the late Delia Thornton Ingram.
He was a retired Georgia Farm Bureau agent, was a veteran of the Merchant Marines having served during World War II, member of Talbotton Baptist Church, and past member of Talbotton Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria McCary Ingram of Talbotton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Frank Jordan of Talbotton and Suzanne and Jeff Mauldin of Manchester; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tiffany Ingram of Geneva; one sister, Jean Ingram Jordan of Talbotton; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Doris Barker Lawrence, 87, of Molena, died May 8 at Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin. The funeral service was conducted from Mount Olive Baptist Church May 11 with Reverend Bob Williams and Reverend Bill McCabe officiating. Burial was at the Molena City Cemetery.
Mrs. Lawrence was born February 16, 1914 in Molena, daughter of the late William Marshall Barker and the late Maggie Gregg barker. She was a retired Postmaster with the US Postal Service. She was a beloved resident of Pike County and had a contagious enthusiasm for living life to the fullest.
As a young woman, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. A former student, Charles Jones of Macon, recently honored her by endowing the Doris B. Lawrence Scholarship at Mercer University School of Medicine.
She was an active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, the Molena Civic Club, the Pike and Upson County Historical Societies, the Retired Teachers Association of Upson County and the AARP. Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Render Lawrence.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Elsie and Melvin Anderson of Molena; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Jamie Anderson, also of Molena; grandchildren, Lisa and Jesse Anthony, and Greg and Jamie Anderson, all of Molena; Jennifer and Steve McCammond of Tuscon, Arizona; Jeff and Kathy Lawerence, and Julie Helms, all of Pensacola, Florida, Robert and Wendy Hall of Griffin, Hugh and Amy Hall of Augusta, Mary Stewart H all of Dallas, Texas, Ginger and Robert Stribling of Macon, Penny and Greg Hale, Piper and Allen Gresham, and Robin and Chet McInvale, all of Manchester, and 23 great grandchildren.

Mr. Slade was born February 18, 1918 in Talbot County, son of the late William H. Slade, Sr. and Pearl Montfort Slade. He was a retired mail carrier and was a member of Manchester First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a number of cousins and his extended family, the dedicated staff of Pine Manor Nursing Home, Columbus. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank M. Slade.

Pallbearers were John Dukes, Scottie Dukes, Mickey Dukes, Robbie Dukes, Lee Watkins, Travis Phillips.
Mr. Dukes was born January 29, 1935 in Spalding County, son of the late Willie Henry and Clara Bell Dukes. He was a self-employed mechanic, was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Dukes and Phillip Dukes, both of Warm Springs, Lonnie Dukes of Pine Mountain, Mike Dukes of Woodbury; three sisters, Edna Cardell, Judy Martin, and Peggy Jones, all of Griffin; three brothers, Marvin Dukes, and Roy Dukes, both of Griffin, and Eugene Dukes of Williamson; seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell Dukes and Mickey Dukes.

Mrs. Daisy Clay Moody, 78, of Manchester, died May 18 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs. Funeral services were held May 21 at West End Baptist Church with entombment in Meriwether Mausoleum. Officiating was Reverend T. P. Hadley, assisted by Reverend Kyle Woodfin. Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Gunder, Darrell Gunder, Jr., Jamie Gunder, Bill Slaughter, Don Estes, and Clifford Hendricks.
Mrs. Moody was born April 11, 1923 in Meriwether County, one of eleven children of Henry Clay and Willie Mae McGraw Clay. She was a homemaker and was a very active member of West End Baptist Church, where she had been a Youth Sunday School Class teacher, Girls Auxiliary Leader, and served many years as President of the W.M.U. She was active in community affairs having been a member of the Democratic Party, and served as Poll Manager of Manchester Voting District. She was instrumental in helping Manchester keeps its community high school. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother, and was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Moody, Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudette (Darrell) Gunder of Woodland; three sons, Jimmy (Brenda) Moody of Gray Court, South Carolina, Larry Moody of Manchester, and Gary (Mary) Moody of Columbus; one brother, Aldean Clay of Woodbury; two sisters, Mary Belk of Carrollton, and Elvie Moultrie of Woodbury; six grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Mr. Evans was born July 11, 1917 in Pike County, son of the late William Andrew and Bertha Walton Evans. He was retired from Durand-Wayland as a machinist and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Pallbearers were Jerry Cook, Doug Etheridge, Mike Fountain, Johnny Crews, Tony Crews, and Barry Fountain.
Mrs. Crews was born May 6, 1909 in Greenville, daughter of the late Nannie Mae Massengale Fountain and the late Walter Colquitt Fountain. She was a homemaker and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Woodbury.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Everett and Mildred Crews of Warm Springs, and Fred Crews of Manchester; one daughter, Margaret Chunn of Carrollton; one brother, Richard Fountain of Greenville; one sister, Ethel Pallion of Warrick, Rhode Island; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Washington was born October 28, 1928 in Hurtsboro, Alabama, daughter of the late Anderson and Jennie Pollard. She was a member of the Greater Peace Baptist Church where she was a missionary, member of the Mothers Board and Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include three sons, Anderson Pollard and Leroy Washington, Jr., both of Columbus, and Marshall (Helen) Pollard of Chesapeake, Virginia; three daughters, Vernell (Steve) Stephens of Seaside, California, Jennie Pullings of Hinesville, and Sarah M. Washington of Columbus; one sister, Juanita Mayes of Augusta; one brother-in-law, Jessie Mayes; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Washington, Sr.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Stephens, 79, of Marietta, died May 14. Services were held May 17 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with the Reverend Doug Mulkey and Gregory Turner officiating. Burial was at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.
A Woodland native, Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Atlanta Business School and a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Stephens, Jr.; her parents, Bill and Mattie Lou Holmes; two brothers, W. G. Holmes, Jr., and Henry Holmes; and her sister, Sue Grubb.
Survivors include three sons, Edward G. Stephens and Wesley Stephens, both of Marietta, and Ken Stephens of Canton; one sister, Martha Ann Knauff of Warm Springs; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Contributions may be made to Woodland United Methodist Church in Woodland.

Willie Joe Huff, 53, passed away May 17 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital. Funeral services were held at Mt. Sinai C.M.E. Church in Manchester May 22 with Reverend Otis King officiating.
Interment was at Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Manchester.
Mr. Huff was born September 18, 1947, son of the late Jim Henry and Ida Mae Huff. He joined the Mt. Sinai C.M.E. Church in November of 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Mitchell of Manchester; step-daughter, Felecia Mitchell, also of Manchester; two brothers, Jimmy L. (Sue) Huff of Manchester, and James O. Huff, also of Manchester; five sisters, Mattie P. (Jessie) Jarrett of Shiloh, Emma L. Rolling of Manchester, Willie L. (Melvin) Parks of Greenville, Minnie P. (Henry) Jones of Manchester, Mattie R. (Dexter) Thomas of Columbus; three uncles; two aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Holmes-Baldwin was born July 4, 1978, daughter of Mrs. Rubye J. Holmes and Eddie L. Carter. She served at Valley Grove Baptist Church until her death.

Roy B. Gilson, 81, of Manchester, died May 26 at his residence. Funeral services were held May 28 at St. James United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Campbell officiating, assisted by Reverend C. L. "Red" Roberson. Burial was at Meriwether Memory Gardens.
Mr. Gilsons nephews served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were City of Woodbury employees.
Mr. Gilson was born October 3, 1919 in Harris County, son of the late William Mangrum Gilson and the late Mary Harris Gilson. He was a retired auto mechanic, was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He serves as Sunday School superintendent, was a member of Official Board, and chairman of Pastor Parish Committee.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Moran Gilson of Manchester; two daughters, Yvonne (Tommy) Barlow of Woodland and Debbie (Tommy) Fowler of Warm Springs; one son, Jeff (Renay) Gilson of Buford; three brothers, Ralph Gilson of Woodbury, Ben Gilson of Talbotton; and Robert Gilson of Manchester; two sisters, Madie Ligon of Talbotton, and Mary Parten of Newnan; four grandsons, one great grandson.

Harold Warner James, 96, of Warm Springs, passed away May 23 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Nursing Home in Warm Springs. Funeral services were conducted May 25 from Mt. Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Jesse Gordy officiating, assisted by Reverend Michael Lott.
Pallbearers were Bart Chapman, Chris James, Scotty James, Kenneth James, Bryan James and Tim Price. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. James was born August 19, 1904 in Meriwether County, son of the late George Warner James and the late Betty Gibson James. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Lewis James of Warm Springs, Robert James of Hogansville and Larry James of Warm Springs; five daughters, Eleanor Crowe of Panama City, Florida, Betty Peters of Waverly Hall, Inez Phillips of Warm Springs, Jean Chapman of Manchester and Judy Barber of Warm Springs; one sister, Lura Hudson of Hugley, Alabama; 30 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Suggs James and a son Jesse James.

James Heyward Webster, 78, of Woodbury, died May 23 at Providence Health Care in Thomaston. Graveside services were held May 25 at Meriwether Memory Gardens with Reverend Charles Hendricks officiating.
Mr. Webster was born March 4, 1923 in Wheeler County, son of the late William Lee and Lena Swain Webster. He was a retired sheet metal worker for Chef Corp., Peachtree City, and was a US Army veteran. Mr. Webster was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Harris County.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie McDowell Webster of Woodbury; two sons, Jimmy Webster of Manchester, and David Scott (Cindy) Webster of Cordele; two sisters, Willena Grant and Grace Sonnenschien, both of Columbus; one brother, Charles Webster of Augusta; one grandson, Chris Webster of Manchester; one step-grandson, Jamie Newberry of Columbus.

Thomas Theodore Jackson, Jr., 77, passed away May 28 at Alvista Heath Care in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at Manchester First Baptist Church May 30 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Craig Williamson will officiate and entombment will be at Meriwether Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Gary Jones, Jerry Moncrief, Charles Neely, Russell Allen, Bruce Burt, Harold Thompson, Coleman Bass, Danny Walton and Wallace Haywood.

Mr. Jackson was born February 15, 1924 in Manchester, son of the late Thomas T. Jackson, Sr., and Julia North Jackson. He was a retired locomotive engineer for CSX Railroad after 40 years, was a member of Manchester First Baptist Church where he served several terms as a deacon and several years as the church clerk, and was also a former Sunday School teacher. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served nine years on the Meriwether County School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Carlisle Jackson of Manchester; one daughter, Gayle J. (Les) Dean, of Columbus; one brother, LaVerne M. Jackson of Woodstock; one grandson, Thomas David (Tami) Tant of Birmingham; one granddaughter, Jennifer L. Tant of Columbus; three great grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and David James Tant.
