Rick MedlockeRick Medlocke, from Jacksonville, Florida, was the main guitar thrust of Blackfoot, a Southern Rock band who carved out their own sound and were more hard edged than most of the Southern Rock groups of the 70's. Medlocke did not consider Blackfoot to be a Southern Rock Band. Medlocke said "We were still a hit with that [regional Southern Rock] stigma, but I always just thought we were a rock band that just happened to be from the south. Even in the earlier days, Blackfoot was a much heavier band than, say, Molly Hatchet or 38 Special, anyone of that caliber that were supposed to be 'Southern Bands'. We were a lot more high energy, a lot more up tempo, not so much boogie oriented; bue we still had that bluesiness." Recently he has joined The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band as one of their guitar army.
