Welcome
to the
Located on Florida's Space Coast, the Indian Harbour Beach Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1965 by a small group of dedicated individuals with virtually no equipment, space, or finances. From these humble beginnings, our department has grown to 30+ active members utilizing three Class-A pumpers that are housed in a modern four-bay station. The department is led by officers who direct the activities of firefighters and trainees both at actual fire scenes and training exercises. Each officer and firefighter has attended various firefighting classes dealing with all aspects of firematics. This training process is applied and continued every Thursday night during weekly drills and also on various weekends. The constant training has enabled us to effectively respond to any type of fire within five minutes anywhere in the city limits. Per year, our department responds to approximately 100 calls varying in scope from alarms to brush fires to structure fires. In November 2000 the department expanded its service with Truck 56, a 75ft ladder truck. Truck 56 provides us with the capability to protect all structures in our beachside city, big and small. Our firefighters have been trained and certified in Ladder Truck Operations by the Florida State Fire College. Our 1988 Engine 56 was sold to a fire department in Texas in 2006. The department again expanded its service in March of 2007 with the new Engine 56- an E-One Cyclone II Pumper. The department hosts its annual open house each year in October.
