Best place to rent scooters or an electric car. We tried both (since we wanted to
have a go w/o renting a car for our vacation) and really enjoyed it. My lady had
never ridden a scooter in her life. They gave her some quick instruction and we
were on our way. As she got more comfortable I could see her smile growing in
my mirrors and it was worth every penny. If you are looking for an electric car
they have a deal/coupon on their website for buy two hours and get the third free.

If you need to rent an electric car this is the place to do it. These people are great!!

We would highly recommend them to anyone the service was awesome and the staff

was great....don't hesitate to rent from them. We had a group of 10 had 2 cars - in

and out in minutes. Greatest experience we have ever had in Key West

I rent scooters every time I go to Key West. This was my first time from Tropical.

Rates were equal to other places, but a block from where I was staying. So the location was perfect!

My friend had never been on a scooter and was very nervous. I drove the course first just to show

her it wasn't hard. (I was scared the first time, too). She didn't hear part of the initial instructions

that he told me and didn't think to repeat them for her. So she was wobbly at first. She went

around once and was not bad, but not great either. So he had her go around again. She did better the

second time and we were off.

My only complaint was that one of the mirrors on my scooter was loose and the seat compartment

was not happy about opening. I probably should have gone back for a replacement. My own fault.

By the end of the weekend, my friend loved it so much that she didn't want to return her scooter and

wanted to buy one once she got home!

the history or anything else Key West and he more than likely knows the answer. You might not

be totally convinced with that grin and the twinkle in his eye, but look it up!!! Tropical Rent A Car

My partner and I just happened to be staying right across the street from Tropical Bicycle & Scooter Rentals

and noticed the amount of people renting from here, so we gave them a shot. The staff were awesome and

very easy going. We've rented scooters before in Hawaii, so no lessons were needed. We did have to ride

around the lot to show the clerk that we knew how to ride though. The scooters were in great condition and a

blast to ride. Key West is small, so scooters are great way to get around. You don't even have to fill up the

gas before you bring them back. $25 from 9am-5pm was well worth it in my books! They also rent bicycles

and electric cars if you want something more environmentally friendly.

Has anyone rented an electric car in KW for the day? Is it worth the it? I have been searching on line,

I frigging loved this place. The staff was a little gruff but they were still helpful and patient,

and the scooters were clean and in good condition. I've been to Key West for vacation 7 times, but

this was the first time I've rented a scooter (I wanted to every visit, so this was a dream come true!).

We did a little shopping around and ultimately went with this place for several reasons.

First, there was no way I was going to ride a scooter on the highway part of US 1 my first time,

where some of the rental locations are located. The location of Tropical Rentals is great because

depending on your comfort level you can either start on the hustle and bustle of Duval St or you can

take the side roads and get your bearings. I also wanted to rent a Honda Metropolitan because I

wanted good aesthetics. I got a nice lime green one and my boyfriend got a brand new navy blue

one that they'd only had for about 2 weeks (apparently someone ran its predecessor off a dock

while trying to take a picture... don't do that).

Second, we tried another place first but the guy working there completely freaked me out, saying

it wasn't a good idea to ride scooters in Key West and it was too dangerous, but he'd rent them to

us if we really wanted. If someone tells you this and you want to try scooters, don't listen. There's

not a better place in the Keys to ride scooters than Key West... everywhere else is nothing but highways

and bumpy/gravely side roads. The guy working at Tropical Rentals gave us a quick instruction of how

to ride and watched us on their practice course. I wobbled a little around the curves but he said I was

fine for the road and after zooming around Key West all evening we tried the practice course again just

for kicks and I did much better... so don't worry if you're a little wobbly at first.

Finally, the price. We decided to walk all the way down from the top of Duval to rent from this place. We

ended up being pleasantly surprised with the total cost of $32.50 for their twilight rental, which gave us

the scooters from around 5pm to 10am (I'm not sure what time the twilight rental starts exactly, but make

sure you show up before 5pm because that's when they close). They had similar rental prices for other time

frames as well, and were a much better deal than the $45 for 4 hours we kept seeing other places.

Rented two Honda Metropolitans (one-seaters, in local scooter rental jargon)

another rental place, these were faster and better maintained. Nice staff; we

I know they will be treated with courtesy and be given careful instruction regarding

the operation of the vehicles they rent. The staff is top of the line as is the equipment they rent.

Bikes are for sure the way to go in Key West. It's the perfect way to explore the island and

get off the beaten path. The bikes have big, wide seats, and wide and high handles.

We rented two beach bikes from Tropical Rental to ride through Key

West. We enjoyed our first day so much we extended our rental for 2 more

days. The only way to get around in Key West - no looking for the expensive

parking spots. Tropical bikes were in excellent condition, the staff

courteous and easily accommodated our request to extend our rental.

I always had good luck with Tropical rentals on Duval and have

rented from them numerous times. A 9am-5pm rental was about

$25+tax for a honda metro. Or rent after 3pm for their sunset deal and

return the next day at 10am for around $30+tax. (Oct 31, 2010 - still the same rate)

We were just there last month and my son rented from Tropical Rentals.

They were very reasonable. A single scooter was something like $25 for 24 hours.

(weekdays) I don't know the double prices, but I would check with them. Hope this helps.
