This is a view of the temple looking toward the East. Of special interest
are the beautiful marble altar and the surrounding brass candle sticks.
The Altar
This guilded altar of fine marble was presented to the masons of Charleston,
South Carolina in 1868 [*1] by several brethren from Washington, D.C..
The Candle Sticks
These ornately crafted brass candle sticks are inscribed and dated
from 1759. They were presented to Union Lodge No. 4 [chartered by the Provincial
Grand Lodge of S.C.] by Union Kilwinning Lodge, No. 0 of Kilwinning, Scotland.
